Melbourne four piece and Aussie rock legends, Antiskeptic are back after a six year break with Stare Down the Ocean; their latest full length release.
The catchy hooks, sing a long choruses and heartfelt lyrics that captured punters' attention in the early 2000's are alive and well across this ten track album. Lead singer Andrew Kitchen's unique and distinctive vocals entice memories of their 2004 hit 'Beautiful in White' and make their latest release a welcome addition to their discography.
The record was produced by Forrester Savell (Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus) in conjunction with the band. Together they capture the garage rock sensibilities that have been sadly lacking in some recent Aussie rock releases.
Whilst the album is a great trip down memory lane, unfortunately, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. After a few listens it leaves you feeling less than satisfied compared to their earlier releases.
Stare Down the Ocean is recommended for old fans of the band and for fans of Birds of Tokyo. Just promise that once you've listened to this release, you'll go back and get all their previous albums because they are where the musical treasure lies.
