MSC Actran 2025.2 Release Highlights
Actran Radiosity for Large Space Applications and High-Frequency Noise Propagation
The new integrated radiosity solver brings a geometric-energetic acoustic approach to Actran, enabling engineers to tackle large-space and high-frequency noise challenges efficiently. This method is ideal for analyzing acoustic energy in domains where wave-based approaches become computationally expensive or impractical.
Typical applications include vehicle cabins, aircraft cabins, factory noise studies, train noise propagation, and exterior radiation problems.
With Actran Radiosity, engineers can:
- Analyze acoustic propagation in large spaces faster in the high-frequency range.
- Generate noise maps and frequency response functions anywhere in the fluid domain.
- Work with minimal inputs (2D surface mesh, absorption coefficients, and noise source).
Enhanced ePowertrain Noise Workflow - Cover Treatments / Encapsulation
The ePowertrain workflow now supports fast evaluation of acoustic cover treatments (encapsulation). There is no need to build full 3D trim geometry. Simply define material properties and assign treatment regions.
Benefits include:
- Accurate computation of insulation effects.
- Scaling of vibrations at treatment locations.
- Up to 40% runtime reduction and 60% RAM savings compared to full 3D methods.
Equivalent Sources in ePowertrain Workflow
Engineers can now define equivalent monopole sources whose combined radiation closely matches real ePowertrain behavior. The system automatically computes complex amplitudes.
This enables:
- Creation of simplified equivalent sources for later studies (e.g., pass-by noise).
- Optimization of source positioning for best radiation representation.
Acoustic Indicators Tool - Oblique and Diffuse Excitations
The Acoustic Indicators tool now includes diffuse sound field (DSF) and oblique incidence excitations. Transmission Loss (TL), Insertion Loss (IL), and absorption coefficients of multilayer materials can be analytically evaluated.
Engineers can:
- Quickly analyze frequency behavior of trims.
- Compare noise reduction performance before full simulations.
- Design composite trims targeting specific frequency ranges.
Acoustic Trim Computation in SEA Manager
SEA Manager now allows fast computation and combination of acoustic trims. Once individual trim effects are calculated, new configurations can be created in seconds.

- Perform trim studies entirely within the SEA framework.
- Rapidly iterate to find optimal trim combinations.
- Run efficient what-if analyses using SEA strengths.
Additional New Features
- SEPTUM Component: Models distributed mass and stiffness in vibro-acoustic analysis. Nastran NSM cards are automatically translated into SEPTUM components.
- FLOW_REMESHING: Adaptive mesh generation based on heterogeneous mean flow for improved acoustic meshing.
- Local Damping for Space Applications: Supports heterogeneous damping coefficients in WM_SPACE workflow.
- SIF Indicator: Evaluates acoustic diffusivity using the Sinc Indicator Function (0-1 scale).
- New Mesh Editor Framework: Faster meshing operations with undo/redo support.
