Jack Kane, un detective de Houston poco convencional, sigue los pasos
de una banda de traficantes, conocida como 'Los Blancos', responsables
del robo de una partida de heroína de una central de policía y la posterior
explosión de la misma. Poco después, algunos de los miembros de la banda
aparecen muertos, con unos cortes en el cuello producidos por un arma
imposible de identificar. De la droga, no queda ni rastro. El FBI entra
en el caso y a Kane le asignan un nuevo compañero, Laurence Smith, con el
quemantiene grandes diferencias. Nuevas muertes se repiten en la ciudad,
todas producidas por sobredosis de heroína, al parecer de la partida
desaparecida, y los cuerpos encontrados muestran extrañas heridas en la
frente. Kane y Smith sospechan que se enfrentan a algo desconocido.
